Open Enrollment: The Best Time of the Year

For two weeks every autumn, U-M faculty, staff, retirees and benefits-eligible graduate students can change their benefits during the annual open enrollment period. Our colleagues in the Shared Services Center contact center and benefits transaction team kick into high gear during open enrollment, handling between 500 and 1200 phone calls per day! Their dedication to ensuring that the members of our community have the all the information they need makes a positive impact that lasts long after open enrollment closes. As one SSC staff member says, “It’s the best time of the year for staff!” This “say yes, how might we?” attitude embodies the spirit of customer service we strive for in B&F.
