From Kevin’s Desk: Your Feedback, Please (12/11/2020)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

This week, you should have received an email invitation from our AVPHR Rich Holcomb to participate in a university-wide survey to provide feedback about your work experience during the pandemic. The “Working through COVID-19” staff survey will help us better understand the impact of this unprecedented time on employees and will inform future decisions. The survey is open until next Friday, December 18. Please take a few minutes to participate and help the university better understand the needs of staff.

One of the things that has amazed me throughout this pandemic is the level of service that our B&F teams continue to provide despite the increased levels of stress we all face. Even while having young children at home, family members at increased risk for COVID-19, or additional work responsibilities, you remain committed to providing outstanding service. The SSC HR Customer Care team is a great example. From March to November they handled 73,000+ calls (11,000 more than normal with fewer staff), providing support to U-M employees who had questions about their health benefits or other issues. Their service and dedication to the university community throughout the uncertainty of this past year has been, as they say at the SSC, ridiculously awesome. Finally, our colleagues at MHealthy want to remind us to take steps to manage our stress and prevent serious health issues. It can be easy to forget about taking care of yourself when there are so many other pressing issues to deal with. One thing you can do is consider joining U-M’s diabetes prevention program. One in ten people in Michigan have some form of diabetes, and about one in three people in the U.S. have prediabetes (many are unaware). You can learn more about the diabetes prevention services available to U-M staff on the UHR website.
