Student move-in days begin next week and the new academic year is officially upon us. I love the energy and excitement on campus when students are back in town. Everything just buzzes with activity. The fall term is an exhilarating time for all students, but especially for our freshman – it’s a big change for them and their parents! I know they are so grateful to all of you who take the time to help students and families find their way around or offer friendly assistance. We help new Blue Go, too!
I am thrilled that as part of the university’s bicentennial celebration, our Investment Office has published a new book! The Evolution of Investing at the University of Michigan tells the rich history of investment activities at U-M and the creation of one of the country’s largest endowments. We have a couple of copies here at Fleming if you’d like to check it out. Congratulations to Rafael Castilla, Will Hodgeson and everyone at the Investment Office involved in authoring this fascinating read! (And speaking of the bicentennial, the Spirit of Detroit is looking pretty festive for our official 200th birthday on Saturday . . .)
Yesterday morning was my monthly breakfast with a small group of B&F staff – an event that always reminds me what a positive impact you all have on this university, and on my life! Thanks for all you do to make this place great.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
