Many of our students are back on campus and fall classes have officially begun. If you haven’t yet seen it, I encourage you to check out the back to campus video – it’s a great reminder that, despite the challenges of COVID-19, we are committed to providing students with an exceptional educational experience.
Many of our B&F teams have been hard at work preparing for the fall semester. Our colleagues in Procurement Services and Print Copy Mail have been ordering and distributing a variety of personal protection equipment items to support the students, faculty, and staff who are transitioning back to campus. These teams have been navigating nationwide shortages for many of the items necessary for campus to reopen, and they have done an exceptional job procuring and delivering these critical supplies across campus. In addition, Procurement Services worked in close partnership with several Facilities & Operations teams on extremely tight deadlines to coordinate and stand up much-needed COVID-19 building signage. Please join me in thanking all of these teams for their work to ensure our campus community has what it needs to stay safe – YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!
To keep our campus looking beautiful and ready for the fall, our colleagues in F&O Custodial and Grounds Services worked to cross-train custodial staff to fill open positions within grounds teams this summer. The process worked so well that they are now planning to turn it into an annual project with expanded training opportunities for their staff. You can read more about this creative effort to Make Blue Grow (as they say in Grounds Services) on our B&F website. Very cool!
Last, but not least, I hope that getting a flu shot is at the top of your list this fall. In fact, I have gotten mine already at CVS Pharmacy since I am working remotely! You too can visit your doctor’s office, local clinic, or a network immunizing pharmacy. For faculty and staff working on campus, by-appointment flu shot clinics are taking place on select days (September 14th — November 14th) across campus. To learn more or schedule your appointment, please visit the UHR website.
Thanks for all you are doing to keep our campus safe.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
