From Kevin’s Desk: The fiscal year end…. (6/28/19)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

Summer is finally here, which means many of our colleagues in B&F are working on wrapping up Fiscal Year 2019. For example, in Finance alone the Financial Operations team is preparing for annual fiscal year-end reporting activities, working with units across the university to ensure a successful close of the university’s general ledger on June 30, 2019. They also review financial data for completeness and accuracy, prepare the university’s financial statements and coordinate the audits done by the public accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. The Financial Analysis team is also busy this time of year completing consolidations, addressing fixed cost balances, processing project fund charges, reconciling allocation journals, and more. I spent many years doing much of the same and I can tell you firsthand that it is long hours and hard work. Please join me in thanking these and all the other teams across B&F who are working to ensure successful completion and reporting of the fiscal year! YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!

I always enjoy the Fourth of July! It is a great time to celebrate the birth of our country and the many blessings we all enjoy living in the United States of America.  In fact, I will be out on vacation next Friday to celebrate an extended holiday with my family, so you won’t hear from me until the following week. I hope you all have an opportunity to spend some time with your loved ones next week — attend a parade, see some fireworks and enjoy some barbecue (like me!). No matter your tradition, Betty and I wish you a safe and enjoyable July Fourth holiday!

With much appreciation and gratitude,

P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
