From Kevin’s Desk: Thank you! (11/16/18)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

Among the many amazing services they provide, our colleagues in Procurement Services negotiate contracts with a wide range of “strategic suppliers” to bring best-value products and services to the community, saving many departments time and money. Every year, Procurement holds several events to help the university community meet our strategic supplier partners, which you can read more about on our B&F website. I heard the strategic supplier catering event was particularly delicious! These relationships are part of the nearly $300 million in strategic supplier contracts Procurement manages. Please join me in thanking this incredible team of professionals for all they do to steward the university’s resources – YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!

Over the past week, I had the opportunity to get out of Fleming and visit with two wonderful B&F teams. The first was the HR Coordinators group at the SSC who serve as HR assistants to units that don’t have a dedicated HR resource or just need extra help. I also had the chance to meet with the F&O team that provides maintenance services to South Campus. Both of these teams REALLY impressed me – not just by their skills and expertise, but also by how much they care about the university.  Like many of you, they do their work day in and day out without fanfare, but with lots and lots of heart – and that is truly what makes the University of Michigan so great.

I’m headed to Austin next week to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  I am a traditionalist when it comes to the taste of my Thanksgiving meal — it needs to taste just like Mom’s cooking! So Betty is more than happy to turn the cooking duty for the turkey and dressing over to me.

I am thankful for so many things including the opportunity to work at such an incredible place with such amazing people like each of you.  I hope you have a wonderful, safe time with your family and loved ones.

With much appreciation and gratitude,

P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
