So much that happens at this university is incredible, and as I’ve said before, I am continually amazed by the work that happens at Michigan Medicine! I am so proud of how we in B&F support the groundbreaking medical advances and lifesaving care that take place. Just recently, our colleagues in Architecture, Engineering and Construction collaborated with medical leaders to create a new Clinical Simulation Center. The 7,500 square foot center is an exact replica of a hospital environment that provides health care professionals in training a space to deal with real-world but simulated scenarios. It is a very sophisticated center that is so real you would think that the patients in the beds are living human beings. So cool! You can read more about the center on our website. Congrats to AEC for this awesome work – YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!
And speaking of medical education, this Saturday the Medical School will officially welcome its new class in their annual White Coat Ceremony at Hill Auditorium. Each new student will receive a Michigan white coat and a shiny new stethoscope, marking the official start of their UM medical training. It’s just one of the wonderful traditions students and families experience at this university, and I know many of our B&F staff are involved in producing as well as ensuring these special events go off without a hitch – lights are on, floors are polished, vendors are paid, grounds look beautiful, and the list goes on and on. Thanks to each of you for all you do to Make Blue Go.
As I mentioned last week, I’m headed to Colorado for two weeks of R&R with my family. Betty and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary – yes, I was a child groom and yes, time really does fly! We are looking forward to enjoying the beautiful outdoors and spending time with our sons. I will be in submarine-mode during this time…totally off email, but will be back online when I return the week of August 20th. Summer is almost gone, as always I want to encourage you to take some time with your loved ones if you haven’t already… and give submarine-mode a try, I think you will like it!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
