At U-M, our medical scientists are helping to lead the fight against COVID-19 through research on preventing and treating the virus. Our colleagues in F&O’s Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) have supported these efforts by quickly training research staff on how to safely work in COVID-19 labs, which require extra precautions and specialized equipment. With help from the teams in F&O’s Maintenance Auxiliaries & Central Shops, as well as Logistics, Transportation & Parking, EHS ensured COVID-19 facilities were ready and safe for research teams. You can read more about these terrific, collaborative efforts on our B&F website. Thanks to the EHS biosafety team and to all of our colleagues who have been involved in supporting this lifesaving work! You folks ROCK!!!
As I’m sure you saw in the Record, the university will no longer be hosting the upcoming presidential debate. Many of our B&F teams have been working for the last year (or more!) to plan logistics, secure vendors and otherwise ensure this massive event would be safe and successful. Even though this event will not go forward as planned, I want to thank all of the teams involved for all of their efforts.
Lastly, I am happy to report that the Board of Regents approved this year’s budget. So many people contribute to this important and complex process, and I want to thank all of the financial teams who help make it happen every year — your work is absolutely critical.
I am so grateful to get to work with such a stellar team of professionals. Thanks for everything you do to keep our university safe and open for business — You Make Blue Go!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
