From Kevin’s Desk: Progressing Towards our Goals (1/24/2020)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

Our B&F 90/90 Challenge is underway and our positive energizers are out in force. I’ve heard about many awesome efforts that are already making an impact – so cool! I want to thank those of you who have reached out to help me fulfill my own 1% positive change commitment by inviting me to visit with your team or telling me about an event I should attend. As a result, I am scheduled to be out on campus a lot! This week, I had the opportunity to visit with the maintenance team in F&O that cares for the buildings in our Health Sciences Region – what a terrific group! I was especially impressed with their commitment to gratitude and to recognizing each other for going above and beyond – Y’All ROCK!

This week, our Office of Campus Sustainability released its 2019 sustainability goal update, highlighting the progress our campus is making towards our 2025 targets. One of the many notable highlights is that we have expanded composting to 40 new buildings (now a grand total of 105 buildings!). These efforts to protect our planet are incredibly significant, and the hard work of everyone involved is greatly appreciated. Read more about the update in the Record.

As you may know, the Michigan Union reopened on January 13. I had the pleasure of attending the recent celebration and open house. Let me tell you, the renovations are extremely impressive! Many B&F teams were involved in this monumental renovation project, particularly within F&O and Finance, and I want to congratulate everyone involved on a job very well done. You can read more about it, check out photos and watch a video on our website.  And, I encourage you to go over and visit the “re-Union” – it’s beautiful!

With much appreciation and gratitude,
