Some say there are two seasons in Ann Arbor: winter and construction. So true! Though construction projects can seem like a big inconvenience, our F&O colleagues work diligently to make them as unobtrusive as possible. Our Logistics, Transportation & Parking team works with our Architecture, Engineering and Construction colleagues, as well as Utilities, Community Relations, and the City of Ann Arbor to create route detours for the construction zones. They ensure our bus drivers have safe and efficient routes, and our community members are still able to reach their campus destinations safely. You can read more about these important, collaborative efforts on our website. Thank you to all of these teams for working together to help everyone on campus navigate construction season. You ROCK!!
And speaking of construction projects, at the Board of Regents meeting last week, we had the pleasure of hearing from our campus planner, Sue Gott, about the long-term vision for our campus. During her update, she made the point that, “Successful planning has a direct impact on our ability to deliver amazing outcomes across the university that inspire people and make them proud of U-M, such as finding a cure to cancer and creating autonomous vehicles to hosting football games and creating inclusive spaces for people to live, work and learn.” Sue is right –the planning team and everyone in AEC do an amazing job to ensure that our physical campus, now and in the future, aligns with the changing needs of the university.
The work we do in B&F every day has a direct impact on the university’s ability to deliver on its mission. Thanks for all you do to make this campus great. Go Blue!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
