From Kevin’s Desk: Over 100 Years of Print-Copy-Mail (08/23/19)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

After resurfacing from submarine mode, I was happy to find that everyone got along just fine without me. If you have not experienced an email-free vacation, I strongly encourage you to try it. You’ll come back refreshed and recharged, and the university will be better for it!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting our colleagues at the Print-Copy-Mail facility. This awesome team of professionals provides key services to the university, which have been offered on campus for more than 100 years! It is incredible to see the volume of support these folks provide. In addition to distributing campus mail, our mail drivers deliver millions of dollars in metered mail for the USPS on their daily routes, which span 280 miles per day. And the Print-Copy team handled more than 14,000 customer jobs last year, including business cards, stationery, envelopes, notepads, labels, brochures, posters and much more. You can check out more interesting facts about this team and the critical services they provide on our website. Please join me in thanking our colleagues in Print-Copy-Mail for their daily dedication to the university and for helping Make Blue Go — YOU ROCK!!

For those of you who travel frequently (like me), Delta Air Lines and U-M have partnered to offer the CLEAR program at a reduced price to all U-M employees. The program allows you to skip security lines, including the lines at TSA PreCheck, and go right to physical screening at the airport. If you are interested in this program, consider registering to speak with a CLEAR representative when they are here on campus September 17-19. Thanks to our Procurement colleagues for coordinating this partnership and making the program available to us at a deep discount!

I hope you all have a wonderful week. It is great to be back in town with you.

With much appreciation and gratitude,
