With Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, President Schlissel recently hosted a public session to discuss the university’s commitment to carbon neutrality. It was a lively discussion on an incredibly complex topic. As you can imagine, there are a lot of opinions about how we should proceed! But that collective brainpower is one of the reasons why a public research university is uniquely positioned to tackle these kinds of monumental challenges. I’m especially proud that the President has asked his Commission on Carbon Neutrality to look beyond our campus boundaries and develop strategies that other communities around the world might replicate. I encourage you to learn more about our sustainability goals and find out what you can do to help on the Planet Blue website. “Planet Blue begins with you.”
One thing you can do to support the environment is to use your refillable B&F water bottle! You should have received the bottle as a thank you for participating in our B&F Employee Engagement Survey, which opened yesterday. I want to encourage you to complete the survey. We need your candid feedback if we are to Make Blue even better for all of us. You have my commitment that your responses are completely confidential. We have taken every measure to protect your privacy. Absolutely no identifying information will be reported or shared, including with me or your supervisor.
If you have questions or concerns or just didn’t get your refillable water bottle please reach out to your survey liaison or directly to me. Thank you in advance for your time and honest feedback about how we are doing!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
