One of the best things about this time of year is getting to see all the cool things people do to celebrate the holiday season with kindness and giving. For example, the children at our Glazier Way Children’s Center participate in the joyful practices of various cultures through hands-on activities, as part of a special initiative led by the UHR Children’s Centers team. By exposing kids to a wide range of customs and traditions, Children’s Center staff hope to encourage inclusive behavior and an appreciation for diversity among the next generation of Wolverines. As you will see from the pictures on our website, the kids learned a lot and had a blast, too!
In another great example of seasonal giving, employees, family and friends of Logistics, Transportation and Parking recently made more than 70 blankets for the patients of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. What a wonderful team-building activity, as well as a special way to support our Little Victors and their families. You will see some great photos of their thoughtful and beautiful work on our website.
And speaking of great teams, the Shared Services Center’s DEI taskforce was recently recognized with a distinguished diversity award in the team category—how awesome! Please join me in congratulating them on their terrific work!! YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!
Lastly, do you know an individual or team that goes above and beyond to champion volunteerism or service at the university? If so, consider nominating them for a Staff Impact Award. You can learn more on the UHR website. Nominations are due by January 16, 2020.
Thanks for all you do to support each other and our university community – now and throughout the year.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
