Our commitment to investing in people is a key focus of our work to create a more positive and inclusive organization. I am very pleased about the many ways that B&F teams offer learning opportunities to each other and the university community. I recently had the pleasure of participating in the U-M Management Conference organized by Organizational Learning. The conference was a combined leadership development opportunity for campus (including Dearborn and Flint) and Michigan Medicine leaders. Despite snowy weather, more than 680 participants attended from all areas of the university! Special thanks to everyone involved in organizing, and delivering content for, this terrific and impactful event! Y’ALL ROCK!!!
Organizational Learning also recently rolled out a series of terrific DEI “heritage month” videos. The Black History Month series is available now, featuring eight short videos about important figures you may or may not know about—from astronaut Mae Jemison to NASCAR racer Wendell Scott. I invite you to watch these videos on your own or, better yet, with a group of colleagues. You can also sign up to be notified when new videos are available for upcoming campus observances like Women’s History Month and LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
For those who handle travel and expense processing, the Procurement’s Audit & Compliance team has developed a new training program for the university community that I hope you will check out. The U-M Travel & Expense Program Refresher Training is a one-hour session that will cover important topics such as the benefits of using our corporate partnerships, travel and expense system tips, PCard information, and details of real cases identified in the audit process. For more information, visit Procurement Services Winter 2019 newsletter. Hats off to the Procurement Audit & Compliance team!!!
Finally, I am going to attend my first U-M Hockey game this evening with several B&F colleagues! Betty and I used to attend the Dallas Stars games when we lived there and loved hockey. So I am really looking forward to it. I hope to see some of you there! GO BLUE!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
