One of my favorite things about summer is the bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables that fill our M Farmers Markets. We’re lucky to have six farmers market locations on the Ann Arbor campus that are open now, with more being added each month through the fall. Led by B&F’s own MHealthy and Planet Blue, along with partners across campus, the markets encourage healthy eating and support our sustainability efforts by providing affordable, locally-sourced produce. I hope you’ll stop by to see what’s in season – greens, herbs, strawberries and more!
One of the newest M Farmers Markets this year will be hosted by the Shared Services Center, thanks to the SSC Green Team. This group of six volunteers has teamed up to make it easy and fun for the SSC to become more environmentally-friendly. You can read more about their efforts here. Is there a cool team or committee in your department we should know about? I welcome your suggestions – just send me an email and I’ll help you get the word out!
Kudos to all who participated in the Voices of the Staff annual meeting which took place last week. As one attendee summed it up, it was a day of collaboration, camaraderie, and celebration! I am so pleased that our own Tina Jordan was one of four individuals honored with the Voices Champion Award this year for her support of staff engagement at the university. Among many other commitments, her leadership of the MSTAFF200 event, along with her co-chair Tim Kennedy, has been absolutely remarkable. Please join me in congratulating Tina on this well-deserved honor! Tina, YOU ROCK!!!
I’m excited to tell you that in a recent poll, U-M has maintained its place as the top public university in the country. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated work of each of you. Thanks for all you do to make U-M #1 – Go Blue!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
