From Kevin’s Desk: Giving Thanks (11/20/2020)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

On Monday, 422 U-M employees were honored at the annual Service Awards ceremony, officially celebrating 30, 40, 45, 50, and even 55 years of service – wow! Our own AVPHR Rich Holcomb cohosted the virtual event, which was organized by the UHR Service Awards team. I am so glad that we are able to honor our employees who have put in decades of dedicated service to the university. Please join me in congratulating the 38 B&F staff that were honored on Monday, and to everyone who has helped Make Blue Go for 30+ years – Y’ALL ROCK!!! You can read more about the Service Awards event on our website.

Our nation will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday next week. For many of us, it won’t be the same this year, without the traditional large gatherings of friends and family. As we all do our part to keep our loved ones and our communities safe, it provides a wonderful opportunity to take stock of what’s good in our world. I am so grateful for our healthcare workers who will spend the holiday caring for patients, scientists who are working around the clock to produce a vaccine, and for the real hope of a return to normalcy sometime soon. I also count among my many blessings the opportunity to work with each of you. Thank you!

Betty and I will be spending a very quiet holiday at our home in Texas. I hope you and your families have a wonderful, relaxing, and safe Thanksgiving weekend. Talk to you again in December!

With much appreciation and gratitude,
