The start of new academic year is a busy time for many of us, including our financial teams at the Shared Services Center. The Accounts Receivable Billing and Collections teams support the reporting needs of the university’s research sponsors, many of whom have different fiscal year calendars and a wide variety of processes for billing. As you can imagine, there is A LOT of billing! Last year alone these teams issued more than 18,000 invoices for a total of $439 million in financial support for university research. You can read more about their important work on our website. Please join me in thanking everyone on these teams for their outstanding work – YOU FOLKS ROCK!!!
At yesterday’s Board of Regents meeting, President Schlissel announced a new campaign created to address sexual misconduct and educate the entire U-M community across all campuses and Michigan Medicine. The announcement comes with a united and clear message from leadership that there is zero tolerance for sexual misconduct at U-M, which you can see in a new video that features a wide-range of university leaders, including our AVP for Human Resources Laurita Thomas and me. The campaign also includes training for all faculty and staff, increased support for those who come forward to make a report, and a new website dedicated to increasing awareness about sexual misconduct and related issues.
I am very proud of the stance this university is taking on these important topics, and I am personally committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all B&F staff. Sexual misconduct has no place within B&F or this university. Please join me is committing to promoting a workplace that will not tolerate sexual misconduct of any form. I encourage you to watch the video, visit the new website, and learn more about how all of us can create a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected. I also want to give a special thanks to Laurita and her team, and everyone who has worked to put this significant effort together.
Thanks for all you do to make this university a safe and inclusive place to work.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
