October is the month we celebrate some of our most critical employees–our custodians! The month kicked off with National Custodial Workers’ Recognition Day on October 2 and was followed by custodial appreciation events and activities that happened across campus throughout the month. As you may have seen earlier this week, the Record featured a series of videos we created to highlight the important role our custodians play at the university, which include heartfelt messages of gratitude from faculty, staff and students. I hope you take a few minutes to watch these moving videos and join me in thanking our awesome custodians–they ROCK!
Next week, the nation will once again celebrate the men and women who have served our country in military service. Veteran’s Day is near and dear to my heart, as my father was a career Air Force officer who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. I know firsthand the sacrifice our veterans make to protect the freedoms we all hold dear. The university will hold many events to celebrate and recognize veterans in our university community — I encourage you to check them out. I also would like to extend my deep appreciation to all the B&F staff who have served our country or who have supported family members in military service.
Last, but not least, please remember to submit your benefit selections by 5:00 PM today if you have not done so already!
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
