Since we launched our efforts to create a more positive workplace, many of you have come up with unique and compelling ways to build community and support an inclusive culture. On February 28, the Finance DEI team hosted a special event honoring Black History Month. Almost 100 people toured interactive exhibits highlighting notable historical figures as well as U-M African-American firsts. This awesome event served as both a learning opportunity and a reminder of our commitment to creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment for all staff. Congrats to everyone involved in putting on this event – Y’ALL ROCK!!
March Madness is nearly upon us, with the NCAA college basketball tournament kicking off March 19. Our Shared Services Center colleagues are celebrating with their own “Sock Madness” competition. Voting kicks off this month on 36 original sock designs submitted by staff, ranging from rocket ships to zombie legs. The winning sock design will be produced for purchase by SSC staff. What a fun idea!
Lastly, I want to give a shout out to Voices of the Staff, a program dedicated to making this a great workplace for all of us. Over the years, Voices has given hundreds of staff members the opportunity to meet with university leaders and work on special projects, like the Staff Impact Awards. And now is your chance to join them. If you are a staff member and passionate about Michigan, you should apply for one of the open spots. All staff, including union staff, are encouraged to check out this cool opportunity. Apply now through March 31 at voices.umich.edu.
Thanks for all you do to make this a great place to work.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
