Next Tuesday, October 2, is National Custodial Worker’s Recognition Day. Please join me in appreciating our wonderful custodians — they play a critical role in ensuring a clean and safe environment for our university community and their work is absolutely foundational to keeping the university open for business. Most recently, Custodial Services teamed up with the Office of Campus Sustainability to enhance our campus composting program and support our sustainability goals. Custodians across campus will now empty standardized brown compost bins as part of their regular duties. You can read more about this terrific collaborative effort on our website.
I want to challenge each of you to in some way personally acknowledge one or more of our Custodial Services colleagues who provides service to your building and thank them for their work to Make Blue Go! If you do not regularly see your custodian, consider leaving a thank you note or some other creative way to recognize their service.
Thank you to our amazing Custodial Services Teams for their dedicated work and to everyone who is helping to make our campus safe, clean and sustainable – YOU ROCK!!
And speaking of teams that rock, this week I had the pleasure of meeting with two B&F teams. First, I sat down with the University Human Resources Communications team and learned more about their efforts to keep university employees informed with up-to-date information about a wide array of human resources programs and policies. I also had the chance to visit the Accounting Customer Service team at the Shared Services Center and hear more about the support they provide across campus to ensure the university’s financial records are accurate and up to date. I left both meetings thinking, WOW, I get to work with these great people!!! Blue couldn’t go without these two teams, and I’m incredibly grateful for the work they do – YOU FOLKS ROCK, TOO!!!
And last but not least, I held one of my employee breakfasts this week where I had the opportunity to meet a number of staff from across B&F. Getting out on campus and meeting our teammates is one of the absolute best parts of my job. I get to learn a little something about each individual and the incredible work that happens across the portfolio; and it’s also a lot of fun! I look forward to the chance to meet each and every one of you at a breakfast or lunch in the future!
Thanks for all you do to make this university great.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
