At this time of year, many of us look forward to eating traditional food with our family and loved ones. In the spirit of learning about traditions from around the world, the Shared Services Center has been hosting a series of “Food for Thought” events where staff sample cuisines from a variety of traditions and cultures. Over lunch, various campus representatives join our SSC teammates to discuss important DEI-related topics. You can learn more about this terrific series on our website and see some pictures of the events–what a creative (and delicious!) way to build cultural awareness! Our SSC colleagues ROCK!!!
One of the things that I treasure most about my job is the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group of people who truly care about each other. To help create this kind of positive work environment for everyone at U-M, our colleagues at MHealthy are once again encouraging the entire campus community to embrace kindness, compassion and gratitude by taking the Be Kind Be Well pledge. You can learn more about this initiative and find tips for practicing kindness on the MHealthy website. It can make for some great conversation starters at the Thanksgiving table too!
I’m headed to Austin next week to spend the holiday with my Texas family, so you won’t hear from me again until December 6th. Betty and I wish you all a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving. I hope you take time to connect with the people who are important to you.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email.
