From Kevin’s Desk: A positive culture begins with relationships (10/26/18)

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Friday!

As I hope you are already aware, benefits open enrollment is going on now. If you want to make any changes to your benefits for 2019, you can do so until 5 p.m. next Friday, November 2. It takes a village to manage the outstanding benefits package offered to our faculty and staff. I want to recognize our phenomenal colleagues in the Benefits Office, UHR and the SSC for their hard work year round! YOU FOLKS ROCK!!

I also want to give a special shout-out to the SSC contact center and benefits transaction teams, who kick into high gear during open enrollment to handle between 500 and 1200 phone calls per day! Their work to help our employees make smart decisions and use benefits wisely is so important. Please join me in thanking them for making open enrollment a success! You can check out some great photos of these teams in action on our B&F website, and I hope you will.

Learning about the people we work with and building meaningful relationships is absolutely essential to creating a positive work environment. It’s also one of the true joys of my life. Each one of you has an interesting story and I love learning about who you are, what you do and what you value. This week I want to challenge each of us to take a few minutes to meet someone new or get to know someone better – not only will it make your own work experience better, but also will give a lift to those around you.

Thanks for all you do to make this university great.

With much appreciation and gratitude,

P.S., Please post for staff who don’t have regular access to email
