Balancing work and caring for others has been a challenge during the pandemic, and I’m happy to share that the university is offering two new ways to help. One new resource is an agreement with Care.com that enables our faculty, staff, and students to search the Care@Work the support network at no cost (note: there are fees for hiring helpers found in the network). Another new resource is a Family-to-Family Support Posting Board developed by our UHR colleagues. It’s a simple way for our U-M community to connect by creating and responding to posts about sharing resources and providing unpaid support to one another. These are in addition to a number of programs and resources already available to help. I encourage you to learn more about these resources if you are looking for additional support.
In addition to caring for your loved ones, it’s important to find ways to care for yourself too. One great way is to sign up for Active U, MHealthy’s annual physical activity challenge. Active U allows you to join thousands of your U-M friends and colleagues working towards the same goal – being active. You can participate as an individual or, for extra motivation and support, join a team. Registration is open until February 1. Thanks to all of our colleagues in UHR for keeping us healthy and balanced! YOU ROCK!
Lastly, I’d like to remind you that Michigan Medicine has asked all U-M community members to please take a quick survey about your preferences on receiving the vaccine. If you haven’t completed this questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible.
With much appreciation and gratitude,
