B&F InFocus: Human Subject Incentives Program

A key aspect of the University of Michigan’s research enterprise is providing incentives to research participants. Research participants are vital to ensuring a study can obtain results that are both useful and informative. The Human Subject Incentives Program (HSIP), based in the Treasurer’s Office, uses a web-based system to facilitate all payments to individuals for participating in research studies. With the help of the cashier’s offices and the card services team, HSIP makes funds available within two or three business days in one of four types of payment method: cash, payment coupon or voucher, MasterCard gift card, or check.
