What is BFDC?The Business and Finance Diversity Committee was originally convened in 1987 by the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Michigan. The mission of the Business and Finance Diversity Committee (BFDC) is to support the Business & Finance organization and its partners in collaborating effectively to achieve our goals through maximizing respect, understanding and appreciating our differences and similarities. The BFDC is composed of a diverse and broadly representative group of B&F staff members and partners from each area in Business and Finance. Team members are considered representatives of their areas, both for carrying information back to their groups as well as bringing forward representative ideas. In general, members are named for two-year terms, which begin March 1 of the first year and end March 31 of the second year (to allow for cross-over debrief and lessons learned). Staff members must have the support of their supervisor to commit time to attend meetings and activities, estimated at 65 hours/year for all team members and an additional 24-40 hours/year for MLK Convocation Sub Committee members. The rotating team members are supported by ongoing team members from the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (EVPCFO). |
